The Critically Endangered Regent Honeyeaters are found in eucalypt forests and woodlands, particularly in blossoming trees and mistletoe. They are also seen in orchards and urban gardens on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range in New South Wales and Victoria. The Regent Honeyeater has striking black and yellow plumage and is very distinctive from other honeyeaters. Research by the Australian National University has shown that the Regent Honeyeater is at risk of losing it's "song culture", having become so rare that younger male birds are unable to learn the songs.
